    Dear Antonio

Sorry but we do not fit this socket.

    I hope this helps further

On one hand John Dawson participates on this forum, on the other hand their customer support is not helpful "Sorry but we do not fit this socket", and is sarcastic "I hope this helps further"...

I would expect something like: Sorry, this socket is there (written VGA above), but for a future upgrade, or maybe it is just there to fool some customers, or whatever...

    Antonio...

If i were you, i'd unleash the FMJ's secret weapon (progressive NTSC outputs) by saving for a plasma monitor.......
Arcam really have geared this quality player for use with such
    an item (or projector)
    I have a Loewe Aconda too......Great aren't they!!!!!!!!
But, i'm itching to get a plasma.......then i can unleash my Meridian 596 on it......
You can't beat a bit of unleashing!!!!!!....

    Adzman...

Of course that is on my horizon, but why not try to use what I already payed for with my Loewe TV...

I don't disagree with you Antonio.......you are correct.
Does the Arcam have the ability to send the YPbPr signal down the SCART?.....I use the YPbPr SCART signal from my Meridian 596
to the AV3 socket on the Aconda, & it's stunning......

Yes it does, as did the DV88 I had before, and the Loewe does its own proscan, but the DVD´s should be better...

Yes, i admit that the Loewe's internal line-doubler isn't the best
available...(although i'm possibly being a little picky here)..good reason to try the VGA module....
Have you seen the VGA module in action?...I haven't......

    Lowrider -

For the record we do not and cannot fit a VGA socket to our DVD players' progressive outputs because it is illegal under the DVD Forum rules, as such an output does not have Macrovision anti copy protection.

Under the CSS (content scramble system) licence only progressive 480p component output is allowed; however we have been working behind the scenes to get 576p enabled, maybe towards the end of this year.

Sorry if you found my colleague's reply a bit blunt - I hope this explains the situation more clearly.

    Sincerely,

    John Dawson (Arcam)

    Thanks John,

I understand, and, of course, accept your explanation, and already forgot that blunt reply...

I find your DVD players very good, otherwise wouldn´t have bought the FMJ DV27 after owning, and praising, the DV88. They are the best for the money, great image and sound, plus upgradability, I appretiate that you make them as future proof as you can, very important in this ever changing area...
