Having played every PES up til 2009,I haven't really played much FIFA.I have bought the nee FIFA as I was impressed with the demo.

It's taking a while to get used to but one thing I can't do is connect with any of my crosses.

Do you press the button as the ball gets there or hold it down as the cross cones in?

Me too :)

As for headers, I'm not sure being a Fifa noob. I think it's best if you wait until the ball gets as close to your player after it's been crossed before you press X to head it. Be sure to hold it down for the power :smashin:

It's all about timing, i tend to press Y first to jump up and then A to head - still can't get any real direction or power on the darn thing but i do tend to win most headers.

Massively important thing to remember when challenging for anything in the air: LEFT TRIGGER. Hold it down to 'jostle' the opponent while the ball is coming towards you and you'll start winning loads more in the air.

what do you mean press y to jump up, is that a real control?

i never pressed y to jump before (except for the wall when defending free kicks). i just press b, usually results in heading over the bar but sometimes works if i pull back on left stick while pressing b to head downwards as the ball is near my player.

Ditto... Again another PES player by religion, but giving this go as picked up a cheap copy....

I must say it's growing on me a fair bit and i think it has many great things, but the crossing seems a bit weak and random, meaning the 1 press or 2 presses etc doesn't always seem to be applied as expected compared to PES.

I can't get on the end of them either... is there a button to take control of the player earlier to move into position, or infront of the defender, similar to in PES (RT i think)..?

Also, what's with the corners.... They seem far too floaty and restricted in what you can do with them... and again don't seem to end up where you want.... Practice i guess is the order of the day!!

The problem is getting the header on target from a high cross. if you choose a corner of the goal to head too the ball will usually go far wide....any tips??
Seem to be alright when u double tap for a stronger lower cross because u just have to jostle your way infront of the defender. the header of volley will be more accurate because of the pace on the ball.

I dont know if i knew this or not, but a few times i've jostled a defender totally out the way of a pass sometimes, then just ran beyond him to the ball.

you should be able to hold LT and RT and the same time. This will then let you control the player. Similar to 'super cancel' in PES I believe.

Yeah, one of the features this year is that you can shoulder people off the ball just using LT, assuming the person you're trying it with has the physical presence to carry it off. So not with Aaron Lennon then. ;)

using LT has made me able to win more crosses and balls floating in etc, even managed to score a couple corners :smashin: i normally hold LT down as the ball comes in then press B/X/A/whatever as the ball's about to make contact

ive only managed to score one header in the demo after playing countless matches (full game should be in the post tomorrow). This was on medium difficulty but its hard as nails to score one for me on experienced. I guess its just a case of being in the right position with the right player and hope!

I struggled a lot, but then got 5-6 headed goals in 4 games last night! Jostling then just pressing shoot seems to do the job for me!

Long balls, defending etc, i try to move in front of the other player, but some of the stronger defenders can just plow straight through the opponent and win it!

I find a half bar early cross (LB) works well - it tends to be quite well whipped in. My problem is jostling too far away from where the balls aiming towards and the ball simply skims off my head, lol. :)

Entirely down to timing. Not how long you press the button, if you get a position where you can move onto the ball and meet it at the peak of your jump/movement, you'll head it cleanly.

Then it just depends on what shooting assists you have on. Have to remember to aim when off assisted ofc.
