I am still not sure if i should buy the pa50 or the pv500. There is no store nearby where I can compare them, so I am asking those who have, what they think:

    1. The 42pv500 is sharper
    2. There is now visible difference
    3. The 42pa50 is sharper

I don't have either, but in my quest for a plasma I did view them side by side at a shop@panasonic. For SD DVD and Freeview the PA50 was definitely showing a nicer picture. If I had gone for a TV rather than a panel, the PA50 would have been the one.

If you are not going to go for any HD material than the pa50 would probably be the better bet.
However, if they are anything like the panels then there is more than just resolution to consider, you may find that there is alot less colour banding on the 500.
What about the PW8? is that not an option? I would think that would beat both of them for best image, with SD and HD.

If the image quality is the same for TV and DVD, you may also want to consider the numbers and types of inputs, as I belive that thay do differ slightly. It may or may not be important to you..

In my opinion there will be not much difference from 9 feet away, both should look very good.
From 5 feet away it may look slightly better on the 50 from a lower quality source.
A DVD will probably look a bit better on the PV500 from 5 feet.
A HD source will look miles better on the PV500 from 5 feet.

If you are not bothered about the extra inputs, HDMI, VGA, better speakers, more future proof etc. then you should be very happy with the PE50.
