As this was the last of my redundancy money from dear old TAG McLaren/ IAG, I thought **** it and bought the damn thing. It was advertised every where and it seemed a good deal.

Now people that know me also know that I dont just put my money anywhere, especially as I'm now in a joe job on less money than before. So before you drown me out by screaming 'PANASONIC PWP6!!!!', read on:

I dont own any TAG gear anymore so I had to start from scratch with the Cambridge Audio Azure 540DVD thingy with it's prog scan -

Problem - using the dodgy cables supplied by Tiny, prog scan from the DVD was clear and sharp but 'jerky' - like it was dropping frames ('I, Robot' PAL DVD)

Chucked the iffy cables in the bin and I'm now using 3 x 3.5m Transparent Audio 75 ohm video cables (worth more than the screen and a prezzy from that nice UZ chap) - Sort of works, pictures loads better but still dropping frames about every four seconds - looks a bit like the opening scenes of 'Saving Ryans Privates' - a tiny (sic) flicker...

Whot the feckkety **** is it and is it just the cheap n cheerfull DVD, or the Plasma, or the fact theres nearly 4m of video cable in between?

Now, freeview looks shat whatever the freeview box via RGB but is way more accetable over our analog reception - Sky is banned in my house - I seem to get a 'split' screen - the picture splits into two with vertical panning of the picture - will someone knowladgeable please fill me in?

Thanks as ever, and to those worrying about buying the screen from Tiny - Someone had to do it and at least it will bring the prices of 'known' makes down.

Any one interested in my current career should watch this sapce as I might be returning with a bang via a well known UK A/V manufacturer - Fingers crossed.... (and hopefully some posts with better diction? ''... I write whot I says...'')

What you are describing sounds like picture "tearing", seen on a PC with not enough horse power as you pan across. I am very surprised you are seeing this on the plasma. I have seen a Tiny plasma in a store, and although not a wonderful picture, it did not do this.

You may have a faulty unit.

Are you looking at getting your old desk back ;)

As regard to the picture jumping on component, does your plasma have a phase adjustment on the picture settings. You may find that it needs tweaking.

RoverSD1 - I get the same frame dropping effect with I Robot - I posted it up in the DVD player forum. I'm going to try using my PC DVD player via VGA over Christmas to see if that makes a difference. The current connection is via S-Vid cable through a Yamaha 750se.

try switching off progressive scan on your dvd player and outputting just component.i have read that some plasmas prouduce a slightly better picture like this, but it might be only if the plasmas own progresive scan is better than the dvd players, worth a try.

Unless the dvd player is by Mico from sainsburys it won't help. I think it's knackered.

It's not because your DVD player is outputting a PAL progressive scan signal and the plasma only accepts NTSC (480p) prgessive scan is it?

I received my on the 29/11/04 it worked for about 4 hours and the screen went blank we were geting a quater of a picture,we phone Tiny to complain they promise to give us a new set,the new set never arrived,at the moment we don`t have any television in the house for the christmas and new year holiday,

Tiny is not a company to be trusted we are now preparing to take them to small claims court to have our money refunded
so my advice to any of you guys out there is stay away from Tiny plasma

There is a bit of relief from the AP end that the 540D wasn't at fault but otherwise you and the other Tiny victims have my sympathy.
