All three these AV receivers are good, although I have not listened to the Onkyo yet. I did audition the Marantz and CA 540R about a month ago and eventually bought the CA due to its better music playback. Thus far I am suitably impressed with my CA.

The were issues with older CAs, but it appears to be sorted out on the newer models. However if you are looking for a receiver with all the bells and whistles you can find, the CA is not for you as it is a straight forward no nonsense amp that delivers very good quality sound at the expense of multiple DSP modes, on screen displays, etc.

Okay now let me give you SOUND advice, listen to all of these with music you know and paired with the speakers to intend to use. Then decide which is the best for you.
