Hi,I am going to buy very soon a 42" Plasma and want HD ready, ive been looking at the Hyundai HQP421 HR which i can get with wall mount, delivered and 2 yrs warranty for £1500.00 :D Are they any good, does anybody on here own one??
Also i would like to connect it to my Panasonic DMR E95 DVD Recorder and also purchase a Sony HT SF800M cinema kit.
If not Hyundai, what other 42" Plasmas on the market support HDTV for this kind of money.

Many Thanks
Darren (Scoobydazler)

hmm not too sure to be honest, they make great tft monitors (i have 19 inch one (8ms response time) and am very impressed.

plasmas however.... ? i have no idea lol

Personally I would avoid anything made in that part of the world Plasma wise..However I have no direct experience of their products so its just my opinion..... like Daewoo I believe they should stick to making suspect cheap cars

I thought that all plasma panels (i.e. the glass) were made in that part of the world!

Also a huge amount of top manufacturers assemble in that part of the world.

Cheers,

Nigel

Well to honest you shouldnt think like that, as the imagequest monitor was a 'best in class' product. so I know they make good tft monitors, but as i said plasmas i dont know about.

get a new lg or try and save just that little bit more!!!!
and get a panny.

i have an lg and am very happy with it. and going on this forum the pannys a very good panel for the money. im sure some guys will give u a guide on how n where to get the best prices n kit u require

Like I say...just my opinion....however.....If you think for example a Daewoo panel can match a Panasonic for performance and longevity because they are assmbled in the same part of the world please be my guest and buy one (btw when I said that part of the world I was of course referring to the company)

To answer your post Steve I think we should think like that.....with so much hard earned being spent on a Plasma I would look really carefully into the likes of the Hyundai HQP421 HR.....scoobydazzler is about to spend 1.5grand on one but appears to have little knowledge of what the tv is like. If I can help him slow things down until he has checked it out more thouroughly (reguardless if the panel is good or bad) then I think that isn't a bad thing :)

I see your point regarding plasmas, tho not all they make is bad :lesson: (eg. tft monitors)

I tell you what you SHOULD do, buy a plasma on finance ("Buy now pay in 12 months"), say a 42" Panasonic PV500, then save that little bit more money for it and pay it off before the first required payment (which would be a year from signing the contract) and hey presto, you dont have to pay interest!!

Not only do you get a spanktastic plasma set but your credit rating improves

The Hyundai ImageQuest range is a fairly recent addition to the UK shores, unlike most of the other "BIG" brands over here.

But bearing in mind that in the far east where most of the products are actually built, the second largest Plasma product sold is Hyundai ImageQuest, after LG. In Korea, Hyundai is the largest Consumer brand name.....think of Sony in the UK!!

They have built a $10million production facility in Spain and with alot of work and good products, sales within UK have started to catch up with Germany and France where they are in the top 5 leading products - reviews and consumer surveys usually give a good report too.

If you are looking for a good price point product that is HD Compatible and not HD Ready (its compatible through the component port), this unit is not one to be sniffed at -

In the March 05 edition of What Plasma the HQP421SR got editors choice, with the comment "A MONSTER bargin"....

A new range of product is about to launch into the UK in the next couple of weeks including a new 42" plasma that is HD Ready, has a built in 14-1 MM player, and built in DVB-T. These though will come in at a higher price then the current range because of the extra features.

But at the moment, shop around the net and check who has the stock on both the unit, and the wall mount....a couple of etailers have the speaker bundle product at the moment....

WoW !!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all your valued input,i really dont know what to do now ??????
I did think about LG and i know that they do make half decent plasmas but i wouldnt buy anything else LG,............I mean, when i needed a dishwasher i went to Bosch and not LG,i suppose its the same as going to Panasonic and not to Hyundai.Yes i know they make throw away cars so i really shouldnt even contemplate paying £1500 on a Hyundai plasma. But scanning the net for the last 4 days, this unit looks really good value and comes with 2 years warranty(i have seen some good reviews for it )
I am lucky enough in a position to go to about £2500 but can't bring myself round to spend that much !!!!!

Cheers for your valued opinions

I think the Hyundai that make cars and diggers etc are a completely different company to Hyundai Imagequest.

I think you are right tjradiohead (trying to check it out for sure) and I stand corrected...however if they come from the same part of the world my views stand lol

No, they are all the same co. Just like Hitachi make diggers, Yamaha make motorbikes, pianos, etc, Daewoo and Hyundai are large industrial conglomerates. There are very few far east 'specialist' companies. It's the Japanese way, taken up and copied by Korea, it's what they do well after all, copy. No doubt they are now innovating for themselves, and in the natural way of things, will not stop till they are as good as the best. IMHO they still have a journey to make.

There is also a 42" 1024x768 panel HQP421HD it can be had for £1350ish (no ex warranty)

I can't find any opinions on it !

I am tempted cause it has component and "enough pixels" for HD

Hyundai
Not to impressed by their cars, badge aside they don't half produce some fuggly motors, anyways err
I have a 19" Hyundai panel also (L90D+),until the recent release of the 4ms panels it was probably the best 19" you could buy (based on alround use, features and price). Its' a samsung panel. It replaced my Mitsi 21" (trinitron/err diamondtron !). Quality stuff.

I was looking at reviews of their HD Ready display but I cannot for the life of me remember where, it was in a round up with other cheap plasma's (ie Tiny) and it only got 2 out of 5 stars because the image quality was horrendous acording to this magazine, that was the sole reason which swayed me from it as I too was looking at it, I am now a very happy owner of a 37" PV500 and the image quality is immaculate, even on cinema mode the image look fantastic, not only that but i'm lucky enough to get one without a single issue as mentioned on these boards

Hyundai WERE one big company but got split up about 10 years ago into many different companies but with the agreement that they all use the same name, but run totally seperate (in some cases, actually against each other).

Like someone said, the L90D+ was one of the best LCD's on the market last year, and thats because their R+D centre and the relationship with Samsung is very very good.

If you want the higher end panel, its the HQL421HR (High Res). No reviews on ANY of the new ImageQuest panels has been done yet. What you probably saw was the Plasma panel from Hyundai Corporation which are basically OEM panels from the cheapest factory - Nothing to do with ImageQuest. Hopefully the new 42" will be reviewed before Xmas, product availability dependant.

Oh, and I dont actually work FOR Hyundai, but have a very very close relationship with them and their products. The rest is Classified! :)
