Looking at the eBuyer specs (notoriously dodgy thing to do) it looks as if the DVI does not support HDCP.... Is this correct or the usual mistakes?

Also.... While I'm typing, does anyone know if the Q320 supports direct source selection through the IR? I want to code some macros in my Nevo/Pronto that select Comp1 or FScart directly (as in not sending source - down- down - down -down - select)

Any info would be most appreciated.

Hi CoolCurly,

I'm seriously considering an lcd tv in this price range. Just a couple of questions.

1. Does it handle htpc with 1:1 pixel mapping over dvi & vga?
2. Whats the build quality like on this set? While for £600 it doesn't have to look the most stylish, I'm just looking for something has a solid look.

If your asking a manufacturer for build quality Im going to say Perfect!!!
I think some of the guys on the Q321 that have already purchased the product would give you the same answer though.....

As for Pixel mapping, I know it does it as the Q321 does it. How it does it and through which port Im not sure, you will have to read the Q321 thread and find out how they have it working...I didnt even know what 1:1 pixel mapping was until we launched the Q321 and apparently its something that alot of people have been looking for.......! I learnt something else from people on here you see!!

There is no difference on build quality on the A321, then the Q321...

hi CoolCurly, this set looks like a fantastic deal. Are there any differences between the A321 and Q321?

It looks like a fantastic deal. A321=Q321 - DVB-T? Same warranty (2 year collect and return)? Fit Engine?

Ive attached the full PDF (which will also be on the Ebuyer site later).

Hopefully you can see the spec clearer, and there are a couple further images too..

EDIT - Small production change on Spec - NO HDMI PORT, but a HDCP ENABLED DVI PORT

Hi CoolCurly,

Thanks for the info! I noticed on the PDF that the supported resolutions are:

640x350 @ 70Hz
640x480 @ 60/72/75Hz
720x400 @ 70Hz
800x600 @ 60/72/75Hz
1024x768 @ 60/70/75Hz

Are these the resolutions supported by the VGA connection? I'd be very suprised if that was over HDMI. Can you confirm if the HDMI connection supports both:

1360x768 @ 60Hz (for PC Gaming)
1280x720 @ 50Hz (for DVB-T from my HTPC)

Any info you could provide would be great. I think the Q321 supports these but as with all these screens it seems almost impossible to get a definitive answer!

On another thread this post seems to suggest that the DVI on the Q321 doesn't support 50hz? CoolCurly, can you find out? Not supporting 50Hz over DVI would stop me from getting this set as it would lead to judder in PAL playback.

Thanks,
Adam.

Hmmm... this on the surface appears to be a Q321 without digital tuner but the specs list it as have a contrast ratio of 1200:1 vs. the 1000:1 of the Q321.

Most irritating as I just ordered a Q321 yesterday but don't intend on using the digital tuner! Is this the E320D panel in the Q321 case?

good spot ailean. brightness levels also differ (with the A321 at 450, but Q321 at 500) - suggesting a different panel?

That brightness and contrast levels do indeed match the quoted levels for the E320D so I would imagine they are using the same panels. Not that it really helps much as I believe the E320D is not yet available!

Not too sure on the resolution questions, but I think thats via the component ports. I will check what resolutions are supported via the HDMI port though.

The E320 is not even in production, so this has nothing to do with any of the specs you have seen on the website.... That will not be available until Aug/Sept and who knows what the panels will be upto (1400, 1600?) by then..

The A321 uses PVA tech (samsungs version of MVA I believe) which is the same as the E320D. So this definitley can't be the same panel as the Q321 anyway. This deal seems too good to be true, with HDMI and a better panel than the Q321?!! Are these specs definitley correct?

If you can confirm that it will do 1280x720 @ 50Hz over DVI/HDMI then I'll buy but I haven't been able to find anyone that will confirm this with any of the Hyundai panels. :(

Cheers,
Adam.

Right, Ive just been told the following from my Korean friends in Germany

"the mentioned resolutions are for PC mode.

We just checked th connection form PC (DVI) to PC in (HDMI) and the resolution max. supported is 1280x1024"

Im already on getting your answer....either way, I'll tell you!

CoolCurly,

Just wanted to say that I've been following the Hyundai threads since the Q321 review thread and you've been an absolute hero for Hyundai. Not many companies have someone like you who actually takes the time to personally answer people's questions and put in the effort that you do.

Thank You!!!

[Edit]Just saw your reply. That was quick. Do you know what refresh rates the HDMI supports? That's the most important thing from my perspective[/Edit]

Cheers,
Adam.

i've finally taken the plunge on this. I was planning on getting the Q321 (after reading the massive thread on here about it) but this is far cheaper and has a hdmi socket. Only thing missing is freeview, but with the mediocre epg and lipsync problems on the Q321 i'm not too bothered. Thanks for the heads up CoolCurly, and your continued support like AdemoN has already said :). Hopefully this will match the picture quality of the Q series.

60hz.....

And thanks for the kind words! I try and be honest as possible. I know if I was spending a fair amount of my hard earned, I would want honest and straight answers. You guys on this forum are just like me at the end of the day and as Im building the brand name, I would rather build it on honesty and integraty!

Any questions, as always, I'll try and answer...

 Keep us posted! I've had my eye on the Q321 for some time now (was weighing it up between that one and the 32WLT66), but this one's really thrown a spanner in the works! Albeit a good spanner :)
