Hybrid Cars, What’s the Point?

Yeah, it's not limited to hybrids, it's just that the Prius is distinctive I think. Also, hybrids, by their nature use their cats less, so they're proportionately in better condition than non-hybrid cars.

I feel that the legislation needs to be tightened up so that scrap yards can't simply hand over cash when someone drops a cat onto the counter - there needs to be proof that the customer actually owns the car that the cat comes from before any cash changes hands - that's the only thing that's going to stop this practice.

Until then, it's the usual theft-prevention method of making life awkward enough for thieves so that they target someone else instead.
