Humax PVR-9150T Questions

I've just purchased this, and it seems to do what it says on the tin, but on my tests, it doesn't seem to reliably record using EPG. I don't think this is a hardware problem, as it seems to record reliably when I push the 'Record' button, so I suspect it is something I am doing wrong.

I assume all you need to do to set a timed recording is to highlight the programme from the EPG, press OK, and then tell it if it's a one off or a series. And that's it, right?

It seems to record from the EPG both in Standby and Power modes.

Any ideas please as to what I may be doing wrong please?

Many thanks,

Paul.

Have three 9200T models but not the 9150T and I presume they work the same way. They will record in either standby or power mode after setting the timer from the EPG by HIGHLIGHTING the programme selected for recording and pressing OK. This sets the timer recording and the red square appears in the details etc top left of window and also on the highlighted bar on the EPG. Then press EXIT to return to TV display and press the ON/OFF button if you want it to record in standby.

You need to enter the details at least a couple of minutes before the recording is due to start before you switch off or it will not start the recording. I never use use series link bit and have auto padding set for start 1 min early and finish 3 mins late. Same on the T models and the TBX.

So the bit regarding series link you added after pressing OK is maybe where you are going wrong.

I've found that my 9150 will not record from the EPG if the programme has actually started, could this be your problem?

Thanks ROYOLD, I'll be sure to check those points. Amd thanks Philgo, but no, the programmes had not started.

It recorded my selection fine last night, so I dunno :suicide:

You're setting it correctly, so it's not your fault.
But if, like me, you've got it set to follow the signals sent by broadcasters for start and finish, this is what's messing it up occasionally. If the signal is sent in the wrong place, the recording will either start late or finish early.
The alternative is to use the "padding" option whereby the recording will start and finish a few minutes before and after the time set. But this is not infallible either-if the program seriously overruns you'll still lose the end. And you have to be careful that recordings don't overlap by the padded minutes.
If you want to record a program which has already started, select the channel and press record. The box will record all that's left.

I let the box record via the signals, and only very rarely have I missed the start by a minute or so. Maybe I've been lucky but I've never misssed the end of a program. And earlier this week, I recorded the live operation on C4 which overran by about 20 minutes and I still had all the program. well done Channel 4 (and I never thought I'd say that!).

Thanks lostinspace, I can't find an option called 'padding' either on screen or in the manual - can you give me a clue please?

Thanks,

Paul.

If it's like the 9200 it's in the record menu and has 2 entries start time and end time which both default to on time but can be changed. If you do you will disable series recording. If it's only the odd programme you want to pad go into the recording schedule and edit the individual reservation. You can also set a repeat pattern at the same time for regular recording event. Weeky/Daily/Every Weekday etc.

You'll find the option to extend the recordings under the "Recording" option in the menus. But I don't know if this cancels series link- I've never tried it.

If you highlight programme and ok during the padded out time(i.e the time before the prog starts 5mins or whatever you have set it to)...it wont record you have to use red record button
