I have just done a search and came up negative, the Humax does not use a standard RS232C cable, it has a round 4 pin plug one end, and a normal RS232 plug the other end.
I am going to email Humax to see if they can point me to one.

:hiya: :hiya: Don't feel lonely :hiya: :hiya:

The epg fix isn't really urgent as the 7 day service looks as far away as ever. Sorry to show my ignorance but what is the EIT service problem

I guess that I will wait for the over the air update unless the 7 day epg hurries up.

    IKKI :smashin:

I heard the EIT service is something to do with the 7 day EPG also.
I will get back here if i find out more.

I have also been told that the Cable Humax are sending me is not actually a cable but an adaptor and i will still need a Null modem cable whatever that is.

An EIT means the roughly the same as EPG - it stands for Event Information Tables.

    Tim :)

    Hi TimH,

I emailed Humax earlier and asked for the cable also, wow, they got straight back to me, now that's service! Yep they are sending me the cable you mentioned, and they also told me that I need a NULL cable, they seem to only cost a couple of quid though so thats fine http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=28326

Let us know when you try the update, I'll do the same

Think I might wait for that over-the-air update after all, my probelm is getting the humax near enough to my pc (in two seperate rooms). It's a bit of a shame the Humax came with the power cable attatched, makes it difficult to move it if like me you have a network of cables all tied up together. I mean it would've been so much easier if I could just detatch all the cables at times like this. Ah well, only a minor quible, nothing's perfect I guess, but the Humax is as near as

After a couple of attempts I have now upgraded the software on my PVR
    It now reads as

    Hardware version Neo Rev 1.0
    Software version pgttf 1.0011
    Loader version h3.06
    System 1D 15b3.0000
    update date 7th may 2004

    Here are some update tips.

1, Make sure you have the UHF cable plugged in.
2, Make sure the power is off to the PVR. I used the rear rocker switch.
3, Launch update programme, navigate and choose the update you downloaded.
4, Click on download, it will then search for your PVR, now you can switch the PVR on and it will update the software, its complete when the programme shuts down on you Pc and the display on your PVR reads end.

I cannot see any differance to the programme guide, apart from maybe a graphic of a man and woman reading a scroll on the guide page, I can't remember seeing this before, check yours and let me know if its there.

    Regards

    Tim

Have read the other contributions in this thread which imply that some software needs to be running on the PC to point the Humax box to the correct .hdf update file. Well that's ok then except that I cannot for the life of me see what loader software I need to get running on the PC to do this.

I have the Humax cable, the null modem cable, the update file and the PC but what loader software do I need please?

Many thanks for any assistance provided.

You need to download the loader software caled WDN4OAK its available from the main Humax site but you have to login before you can download it.

    Its just under 1 meg.

    Good Luck

I have a simple question for those with the 8000T:-

Can it record from an external source (e.g. Sat decoder).

I have looked in the on-line manual and it only seems to talk about outputs.

NO! Only from its built in Freeview tuner.

Get yourself a Panny E-55 DVD recorder from on-line Dixons site...

    Regards,

    Bluebear.
