hi guys, i`m new to these forums so if i`ve posted in the wrong place then firstly let me apologise.

i have a humax lu23-td1, i have turned it on today and found the following problem.

there is sound and i can see and use all menus and other functions, the backlight appears to be working as i get a blue screen on av/composite channels with the words no signal or bad signal.

now, as soon as you play a dvd or put it to a tv channel the screen goes black but with sound, and if you look hard enough you can see the picture is there in the background. if you turn the colour, brightness and contrast right up then you can see it a bit better, but it`s under a very bright grey screen.

i would of said the problem was the backlight, but if i can see the menus as normal then i can`t be that can it?

any advice/info would be greatly appreciated.

bit of an update, i have connected my laptop to the tv this morning and it appears exactly as it should do with no problems with the picture quality at all. but the tv channels and av/component channels are all still dark. do you think it`s worth changing the capacitors on the main board just in case?

again, any info would be greatly appreciated.
