Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could help me, I have a Technics 1210 TT which I use to listen to my old vinyl,I have put the turntable on table at the other side of the room about 15 feet away from my amp. I now have nothing to connect the ground wire to...would any of you guys have any bright ideas?

I'm guessing you must have run a long interconnect or something to connect it to the amp so why not just run a long bit of wire to ground it.

Do you have a phono amp near the turntable?

If you haven't and are extending the arm cables by 15' I'm not surprised that you're getting hum. Cartridge outputs are at very low level and long runs of normal screened cable are very susceptible to picking up mains hum.

I have the same turntable. My amp is just over 3 metres away. I use a 5 metres phono cable for the analogue connection and clamped a bit of wire to the ground wire of the back of the deck. This goes to the ground screw on the amp.

I also in the past used a peg to hold the wire onto a metal Hi-Fi rack.
