I've just received word (and announced the specs) that Ang Lee's Hulk will be released as a 2-disc Special Edition in the UK on November 17th and it will definitly have a DTS soundtrack!

    I can't wait

    Have you seen it?

I REALLY hated them split screen effect, he went well over-board with them. Also not enough violence.

    SPOLIER
That guy in the tank survived despite being thrown over 1 mile. Also when the helipcopters crashed/hit each other they didn't explode. It panned away when he flexed his shoulder and killed the dog
    reminded me of the A-Team.

Worst film I've seen this year.....I'll rate it similar to Fast & The Furious. :rotfl:

I cant understand why ppl hated this film, not having a dig, but the split screen effect was a homage/influnced by comic book story telling, the Hulk was never about violence, probably wasting my time here, unless you ever read the comc books you'll understand.I think the film was probably not dumbed down enough for the average audience.
The film had a plot running throughout the film, so the origin of the hulk was not rushed into the first 20 mins or so, perhaps too much for much of todays shallow audience , which was a good thing because the character and design and plot of the Hulk was truer to the comic books, and I think it is one the best comic book adaptations ever. In fact film of the year.

Very good though for me comes in behind X2...but way ahead of Daredevil and Spider-man.

Not dumbed down enough? You're making me larf! It had no depth to it, the acting was shallow, CGI dodgy, unbelievable (on the human death-defying side) My film threshold is high compared to some people- I don't like Fast & the Furious, The Rock, Face/Off, Con Air, Gladiator, Indepedance Day, Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, Terminator 3, Godzilla, Daredevil- all terrible films IMO.

Yes I know the split screen effect was to make it feel like a comic... but it was still blooming annoying! I didn't mind at first, here and there- but it was all the time. Oh he's walking across the screen- I'll use the split screen effect!

Yes I have read comic books, and no I haven't read Marvel/Superhero comics because I'm 27 years old.

Why not? I'm 38 and I read them...you're depriving youreself of something here out of principle...kinds like the way I USED to deprive myself of dts soundtracks...

Because it's sad IMO. I know of one person who's 30 and still reads comics.

Also it's expensive, and I don't want to full my room up with comic books.

Oh yeah I have read a couple, but can't see the attraction of them to older (over 13 years old) people

You could spend time reading comics rather than winding people up on here...which, BTW, I think is sad too.;)
That way, in theory, you'd have a lot more friends...just from reading comics!!:smashin:

    Hi tee. :)

Any news on whether the Jap R2 will have DTS?

EDIT Just to answer my own question, having just checked I can confirm, to myself if nobody else is interested, that The Hulk R2 Jap 2 and 3 disc release also has DTS  :D

I did like some aspects on the Hulk. It was best summed up by the Times who said the Hulk had the face of a giant Latvian Peasant- he did look rather benign all things considered.

Yes indeed, although I doubt the Jap release will be full bitrate (much like X2) and will therefore be no better than the UK R2 release

Exactly.....................no Pal speed up and correct Pitch (Slow down, it seems is a fallacy :) )

Having spent a large wedge on my setup I like movies to be as natural and as close to the director intended as possible..............................and yes, even bad movies :D

I'm quite looking-forward to The Hulk, now! I thought Spiderman was average & Daredevil dire! I'm tempted to pre-order the 3 disc Japanese collector's Edition....................but should I?

    tee.............your advice, please ;)

Erm, so why watch the movies? Why watch films that are cert 12? Are you not old for them?

So you've never read Lobo, Hellboy, From Hell, Watchmen, Akira, 30 days of nights, Criminal Macabre (being made into a film) not for kids like youand more intelligent than u think, open your eyes and mind.

I'm gonna wait for the R2...not for the dts track but for the fact that, to me, 575 lines de interlaced on a 6 foot screen look better than 480 lines...just my opinion though.
It's kinda like the dts thing really - better on paper, but not always on the screen...

I notice that the press release doesn't mention the gift set that's appeared at some e-tailers - normal and box. Is this boxeset (and more importantly, the contents) confirmed ?

I have Akira on DVD. That's fab. Fantastic in every way- music, story, character devolpment, animation (and yes I listen to Japanese audio with english subtitles) I also like Princess Mononoke.

Just because I'm "old" for movies does not mean I automatically dislike them. I also like Wallace & Grommit, The Simpsons, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Chicken Run etc. I like Kurosawa films too (Seven Samuari, Hidden Fortress, Yojimbo) So I'm not exactly narrow-minded (ie just love films that go CRASH BOOM BANG!- say Armageddon and the ilk)

I am not a kid. And I have passed a mensa test. Maybe I just see dumb films for what they are? - dumb films

I always try to remember that one person's dumb movie is another person's blockbuster! I may owe you an apology, though, once I've seen The Hulk ;)

Well as I said, I saw Hulk at the cinema and absolutly loved it, but it isn't to everone's tastes that's for sure..... My advice is go for the UK R2 release - it's cheap, it has DTS and all of the extras. It's the version I'll prob go for

    Cheers

Sig.. do not order the 3 disc Hulk.. only difference I can see it a extra disc with a 45m scifi channel feature on it.. and that will set u back a further $50 before shipping.

tee - It has to be NTSC for me, so if I want DTS I'll have to get the Japanese release.

Matt Horne - Thanks, mate.................I've now got an extra 50 bucks to spend :smoke: Last Action Hero Superbit and Sixth Day DTS here I come ;)

I have the Sixth Day on DTS.. I could not get it on its own OOP everywhere I checked.. so I got it in a arnie 3 pack which worked out cheaper in the long run (also had total Recall and T2)

Sixth Day (And TR) are full bit rate :)
