    Hello,

I have been looking to build a HTPC to accompany my LCD TV for a while. I've spent some time looking through the forums and decide on this setup. Here is a list of the main components I intend to use.

Antec Fusion case with 430 watt power supply £117.49
    Asus A8N-VM CSM Socket 939 £50.00
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego (oem) £64.57
    Zalman 7700 £26.44
    Corsair 1GB 2 x 512MB DDR400 / PC3200 £69.44
    Samsung SpinPoint 250GB SATA-II £49.94

I have yet to decide fully on a TV card, but I have a few ideas.

If anyone could lend any advise or point out any probelms I could face with it I would be really greatful.

    Thanks

Why have you gone for socket 939 over AM2? I think the prices are about the same now and AM2 is more future-proofed.

Adding about £35 to your budget would get you a dual core 3800.

    I agree, AM2.

You could swap the motherboard for a similar Asus (DVI) one like the ASUS M2NPV-VM. It's a little more expensive, change to DDR2 RAM and stick to a single core AM2 if the dual core is too much. It's a great upgrade path for you at some stage, changing to a faster AM2 CPU.
