The Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GT Should be fine for you, just released a week or so ago...

For a P4 Cooler I'd go with a Zalman Flower Cooler, just make sure it fits in your case

    Socket 478 Cooler

    "Zalman CNPS7000B-CU Ultra-Quiet CPU Cooler "

    Socket 478 Compatibility

    Socket 478/775 Cooler

    "Zalman CNPS7700-CU Ultra-Quiet CPU Cooler ",

If them coolers don't fit in yuor case then try the Silverstone NT03, it got a lot of good reviews, and is 478/775 Compatible, been meaning to pick one up
    myself, it's around £40..

there's also a fanless version of the X800XL available if quiet is important.
I have a fanless Radeon9600 - quiet an old card, but for TV resolutions it works well and runs stuff like Doom3 pretty well

I've just got an NVidia Geforce 6600GT and I am very very happy with it. It seems to be widely recommended for HD HTPC duties, and I am sure it will work with most games, albeit I am not a gamer so I couldn't vouch for that.

    My recomendations would be:-

Gigabyte GV-NX66T128VP (nVidia 6600GT with PureVideo, Passive heatsink)

    Thermalright XP120 P4 cooler

I vouch for the Gigabyte 6600GT, I have the fanless AGP 128mb version, it runs half-life 2 very well on my SD plasma at 1024 x 576... also ran GTA San Andreas better than my Radeon 9800 pro.

Radeon X700, but for £30 more you could go for an X800GT

Well there is good news for you the X550 will be out soon, sort of in between the X300 and X600, it's designed for HTPC, so you could hold out for on of those..
