My current (very old) router has packed in so I thought I'd use this as an excuse to upgrade the whole network. What I want to achieve is this
Upstairs
Cable Modem
|
Router
|
Ethernet Port Switch
|
Desktop PC (Wired) / Desktop PC (Wired) / Popcorn Hour (Wired) / Electric Ethernet thingy A
Downstairs:
Electric Ethernet thingy B
|
Ethernet Port Switch
|
TV (Wired) / WIFI Access Point (Wired)
One of those upstairs desktop PCs hosts the files that should be shared with the two media centres. Would this FS105 be OK for the port switcher, or should I up it to the considerably more expensive GS105 (especially when I'll be buying 2...)? Will I still see the benefits of that (mostly on cutting out overheating) if I'm sharing a file between one of the wired desktop PCs upstairs and the TV downstairs, seeing as they use different port switchers?
How about the new router and electrical thingies, any recommendations? I should also point out that while I'm managing OK with queued seeding etc. for now, I'd really like something that can cope with lots of simultaneous connections/torrents without overheating (I have 500+ in uTorrent right now).
