    I'm trying to spec a htpc

    But I'm unsure as I don't seem to understand 3d

    I want to be able to play 3d blu ray movies from it

    Do I need to look for 3d bd rom drive & graphic card

    Or is it down to the software I use any help please

    Decided on case going for a silverstone lc17 & pos a amd CPU

    But that's about as far as I've got

    Thanks Colin. :lease::lease::lease:

    I have an AMD A-10 5800K which has onboard grafix. You need a fm2 motherboard, Ram (I run 8 gig) hard disk, bluray reader drive.
    I can play any blue ray disc and 3D plays flawlessly all in hd sound.. I store all my blueray disc on my hard drive as .mkv and playback through Plex.
    The processor is also good enougth to transcode my movies to other client players around the house. If you dont need transcoding and streaming a cheaper processor will work.

    the AMD-A5-5300 is what i went with currently £35 on amazon and a cheap motherboard £43 with onboard 7.1 and hdmi

    the cpu handles transcoding, 3D etc with its built in APU so no need for seperate gfx

    Think all in total i spent £260 £100 of that was a fancy case :)

    For bluray 3D films i store my disks as side by side or over/under format also in MKV. I play these through an acer revo 3700 (HDMI -> av receiver -> Epson 6100w projector). I choose the 3D format on the projector (SBS/OU) they play perfectly. So depending on what you're outputting to, you might not necessarily need a fancy 3D graphics card, or fancy receiver. The HTPC OS was XBMC, but now I switched to OpenElec - both work flawlessly.
