Maybe I'm just getting confused, but can someone help me please...

I am thinking of buying a Philips 9986, and want to use this with a new HTPC (which I'm currently building). I know that the 9986 doesn't allow full screen 1366 resolution, so I'm already resigned to running 1280 x 720 with borders.

However, I was reading somewhere that there is a problem in outputting 50Hz material in such situations? I want to connect via DVI, and as I'm in the UK most of the stuff from the HTPC will be 50Hz. I know there are nasty 'effects' when playing 50Hz stuff @60Hz - is this something I should worry about, or am I just confused??!!

The 9986 is all but discontinued replaced by the 9830 (I think) and as you stated it won't output at full 1366 x 768 res, the new one will, providing the correct Video Card is used, I can output @ full 1366 on my 32" ACER using either an Nvidia6800 GO (Laptop) or an Nvidia 7800GTX (HTPC). IMO the 9986 is still way overpriced, if you need to know more about the 9986 replacement go to the LCD forums, theres lots of threads.

Thanks - I already saw the 9830 details, and I was maybe hoping to pick up a cheaper 9986 due to the new model!

But as you said, the full-screen possibility for 9830 may win me over! But still, I'm not sure how I can output 720p/50 material via the HTPC, even on 9830. Is this possible today with 9986?
