Does anyone know if the HT200DM can do 848x480 via the PC input? Also will it sync at 72 and 75 Hz?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Sorry don't have a HTPC so can't try to tell you. Best to call Alan Roser at OWL direct I think.

    I'll try it tommorow.
Should have the HT200DM here for a demo so I'll hook it up to HTPC and give it a go.

    Thanks Sharky,

I have my HTPC running at 848x480 at the moment so it could be a good match if it works.

    Cheers

The projector will lock to both 72 AND 75Hz 848 x 480 but the picture is awful.
Fed with 800 x 600 and then select 16:9 on the projector itself and the quality was superb.
It looks like you will have to use the 800 x 600 panel resolution and then let the projector do the rest.
Some one else might be able to correct me on this!!!!Or if I had more time to play.
Once again the Pioneer 737 progressive is good, Iscan pro is better but HTPC if way out in front.

    Generally what did I think?
Picture was very good, rich vibrant colours, very good black level. no visable line structure on 64" screen. Picture seemed a bit dark at times but I think calibration and additional setup will resolve that.

    Did I see rainbows?
Yes. but only very occasionally and looking really hard.

Was that using the wave a hand in front of the face while doing a one handed hand stand technique? :D

Interesting about the resolutions, with the 800x600 set to 16:9 on the projector, does it just stretch the 800x600 image to fit a 16:9 screen? If so it should work quite well. Did you try feeding something like Sky Digital directly, if so any good?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Jeff,

We don't have Sky in the shop but I'm going to take our dem unit home and try it this weekend. I'll stick VHS and Sky through it and let you know the score....unless Sharky has more info.

Incidentally Sharky: Which inoput were you using with the PC and in what way was the image iffy on 848 x 480.

The 848 x 480 issue confused me. I thought that Being a Duel mode, the projector would have given us the option to use 800 x 600 or 848 x 480, apparently not. If you use 848 x 480 the picture quality is just like it would be on a PC monitor. But feeding 800 x 600 desktop, and then setting the projector to 16:9 it worked very well indeed.
No the rainbow was evident without the shaking heads or hands bit. It was minor but still there, would it put me off "NO". Because the rest of the projector was great.
Sorry I didn't try SKY or VCR "SORRY" too busy seeing what it could do on films, and the PC issue.

    Jeff,

Already had an email abouthtis from someone else so please let me put the record straight for everyone.

I was unwell and off work for the end of last week (everyone say aw....)so I never had the chance to take it home. This weekend I am sending our dem unit to a customer (and forum member) to try with a DVD2800. So I wont get a chance this weekend either.

When I get the chance to take it home and play I'll let you know my thoughts. Hopefully before the event.

    Gordon
