Can any of you guys clarify for me some questions I have concerning the HT-TX35R
    http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=4GSY

    And the SH55M/SH53M?
    http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/sto...u=870877&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null

First off, am I right in saying the DVD that comes with the HT-TX35R is just a DVD player & not some integral part of the sound system?
Because I was thinking of replacing the DVD with said SH55M/53M model.
Would the HT-TX35R just work the same with the SH53M replacing it?

Can you also confirm that the SH53M can play DVD-R for me, or does the machine have to be multi region to do this?

All I want to do is record TV & play the odd DVD film with decent sound.

thanks for listening & your replies are much appriciated

ps:don't mean to double post but was also putting this in the HT-TX35R forum
    too, if thats ok?

The TX35R IS the system... so it is not conceivable to substitute it.

Have a look at the manual which will give you a much better idea.

    Thanks Gavtech for your reply.

(why didn't I think of downloading the PDF?)

Now you have confirmed that I need to use the whole HT-TX35R system, so now I don't need another DVD player.
Do you think it would be wise move, to match it up with this system?

The reason I keep going back to the TX35R is because I like the idea of matching up the black Tallboy speakers with my new soon to be Samsung TV, but can't seem to find these anywhere without it including the DVD package.

Oh, & one more thing! can you confirm if the TX35R plays DVD-R?

    Thanks again
