Oooh. I'm tempted to have a go!
If your card is debited, aren't they obligated to complete the deal?

I'm pretty sure they won't honour it. They've no legal obligation to do so, and I've seen this happen so many times before. They usually just cancel your order.

edit - hmm, great, sent them an email, but their address isn't working. I'm also really confused as to whether they deliver to Ireland - they say "Please note we do not send goods outside of the UK or to BFPO addresses (Eire excluded)" in one part, and in another they just say they don't deliver outside of the UK. Anyone know for sure? I might as well try ordering one, just in case..

Yeah, it seems certain they wouldn't honour it. They'd lose crazy amounts of money on it.

My favourite one of these was on the Dell website, where they start selling PCs for €20.. (with a €100 rebate) Yes, that's right, in effect they'd *pay you* to take the PCs! Myself and my mates ordered about 20 of them

    (they didn't honour them)

Can they actually do this ?

I know there was the BIG Kodak camera thing a few years ago, and I thought out of that came that until your credit card had been debited it was not a completeted transaction, but once they had taken your money, it was a full and complete transaction (done and finished) and could not be backed out of.

So the onus was on the supplier to NOT take your money (debit the card) before they changed/corrected/whatever the price.

Once money was taken the contract was complete and that's that.

Otherwise anyone could deliberatly put any price up as a deliberate error just to attract a LOT of attention " 42" Plasma for £699 " take all the money for a week get loads of people hitting their site, then turn round and say, oh sorry we left the 1 off the front it sould have been £1699 here's your refunds. no harm done.

Not yet - but no doubt it'll come.

Although there's no chance of this coming off, in my experience it's always worth a punt as often the etailer will offer something in recompense, which is nice.

Umm- that's what I understand as well. Once the money has been taken, a contract has been formed. Argos, dubiously may I add, refunded my card for the TFT debacle - how could it be proved they didn't have stock? (that's how they claimed not to be able to fulfill the sale contract) - and for the inconvenience gave me £60 worth of vouchers.

Could PRC say they have no stock if they have taken the money?

They don't have stock because no one has stock - its not out yet.

I doubt they charged anyone's card - if you're preordering an item, as you would have been here, they wouldn't charge your card until they had it in stock and were processing your order for dispatch. At least most shops would do it that way.

If they have already changed their website why is it taking so long for them to let those of us who have ordered know whats happening? Personaly I think they will just cancel all the orders because £1300 on each PJ ordered is too much to lose. There must be over ten of us who ordered at this price.

I also made an order so lets hope for the best. One thing I would suggest is that we don't all phone them up demanding our projectors. It may be that the IT people noticed the mistake but not the orders. So if we leave them to go through the system by the time they get to dispatch they'll just send them out. If we start contacting them though it increases the chances they'll spot the mistake.
