Is it a problem to leave the hs2 on, rather than turn it off when not in use? I tend to leave it on and have it pass through sky, but read somewhere that the hdd spins constantly doing this, hence it being better to turn it off when not in use.

It is a pain that it takes 20 - 30 secs to power up/down with the subsequent loss of the passed-throu' picture.

I never hear the hdd, nor the fan, and the machine doesn't seem to get hot, but am concerned if the hdd will wear out!

I turn it off because of the audio-video sync problem.

Environmentally (and financially) probably better to turn it off and save the juice - no benefit from leaving it turned on.
