I just got the 'Please Replace the Filter' message (although it's since gone off), so I suppose I'd better replace it.

But I'm wondering if I should just follow the procedure in the manual to replace the filter. I seem to remember reading something about using a vacuum cleaner to stop dust getting inside the projector.

As well as monitoring internal temps & fan speed, the HS10 automatically displays "replace filter" at predetermined hours of use - 1000hrs IIRC.

No real need to use a vacuum if changing the filter but it certainly wouldn't do any harm.

There'll probably be some very fine dust just around the filter itself but it's unlikely this will make its way inside unless you're really careless or deliberately trying to get it in there.
