Questions?
Has anyone has purchased the N40L?

Will the increased processing power make this more useful as a media server/transcoder?

Looking on AMD's website i found that the processor supports this:

Unified Video Decoder for dedicated hardware decode and playback of VC-1, and H.264 formats

I'm not sure if just because it can playback 264 it will also be able to transcode it.

E Buyer have the N36L gone up to £234.99 yet have not shifted stock in the past 2 weeks.

1700 + exist of the N40L though so it seems cashback isn't really shifting these. Hopefully they will extend it until next year again

Hi, just purchased one of these to replace my qnap 210, needed more internal storage space. I hope the cash back claim is a simple enough process. Can anyone comment/clarify this?
Cheers
Will post again when it gets delivered (In 5 days :( Ebuyer super special)

Keen on bagging one of these, but cant find answers to the following:

I can see you can have 4 sata disks, and an otpical drive.. so I assume there are 5 on board sata connecitons, or do you have to sacrifice one of the 4 if you have a dvd unit?

Can you use either Ecc or Non Ecc ram?

Just ordered the N40L £240 from dabs with free delivery. Got to be worth it even to learn on (which is what I'm doing)

Can anyone recommend memory for a 8Gb upgrade ? I tried Non-ECC Kingston 2x4GB DDR3 1066MHz Memory CL7 1.5V that works in the N36L and it did'nt boot. No errors, no vga output, no blue light.

From the HP spec :
Memory - PC3-10600E DDR3 Unbuffered (UDIMM) ECC memory, operating at max. 800MHz

Hmmm.. setting up my server, gone to slide caddy in with my 1tb samsung disk in, and it seems to jam a good inch or so from the end.. wont slide in any further...

I do notice that the provided 250gb hdd is a slim disk, my 1tb seems quite chunky, and it simply wont go in.. I have checked to make sure I have installed in in the caddy the right way too!! Have triec in all 4 bays too, and it simply wont slide in that last inch or so...

Dont recall seeing anything anywhere stating you must use a certian type of disk.. I have 4 disks, all the same, I wont he happy if none of them go in!

Thatll teach me.. how did I miss the HDD and ODD screws in the back of the door!!.. doh Fitted the correct screws and hey presto, slips in a beauty!

The supplied disk is slim but standard size 1TB Samsung disks fit fine into my case - try checking it over again.
