I have an HP Probook 6475b and want to connect it to my Samsung TV’s HDMI socket. What cable will I need to connect from the laptop’s DVI port to get sound and vision on my TV please?
(Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I can’t find the most suitable for this)

I looked up the specs for your laptop and it says it has displayport output. For DP get a simple DP to HDMI cable.

DVI looks like this, are you sure its DVI.

Thanks for your reply. Looking at it again, it has DP output. Would a DP to HDMI cable get sound and vision to TV?

Yes.

Be sure to activate the PC mode on the Samsung TV, usually renaming the HDMI input label to PC or computer turns that mode on.

PC default video output is different from TV standard input.

Thanks again. I use a Humax box for TV. When I press Source, it shows TV, HDMI, HDMI2, etc. Is that OK?

Yes, simply select whatever HDMI input the PC is plugged in to with the TV remote's source button.

Thanks for all the help. I’ve ordered the appropriate cable.
