Hi my G72 laptop is showing the SMART 301 error and says the harddrive needs replacing. So I have chenged the HD and am trying to use the windows 7 recovery disks (there are 4 of them) with no luck. Spent a long time on google with no luck. If I use an old xp disk the computer finds it instantly. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Hmm, I think that you need an installation disk rather than recovery disks, however there should be a serial key on the bottom of your laptop. If this is the case then you can download a full system disk from the link below and burn as an ISO file, that should do it for you. Another way of doing it is to borrow a disk from someone you know has the installation disk and use your serial number to activate it. There may be another way and other forum members may be able to advise you, but that is the only way I know, hope this helps.:smashin:
