    funny you should ask!!!

yes i did, but i ended up leaving the media box for the following reasons.
didn't want another piece of av equipment to find a home for and don't really need all the inputs anyway.
I fancied the pwd7 over the pw7. ( i have no real reason for this, i'm just wierd)
spoke to the great avsales people and instead of the js box, I was pointed in the direction of the syncblaster scart to vga cable as i only need one connection from my skybox and my dvd player will connect through the skybox aswell. I ordered a scart terminal when i ordered the set, but it looks like it's gonna be surplus to my requirments.

bloke at avsales said that in his opinion the syncblaster cable gave pretty much the same results in quality as the js box. I'm trusting his judgement.

Any idea whats the difference between the js tech box and synblaster cable ?
I mean are they both the same thing but different brands?
I understand that the js tech box need a power supply....does the syncblaster cable need a power suppy too? Lastly, how much is it?

Sorry for all the question but this syncblaster cable is new to me...only been reading about the js tech box.

    thanks.

    syncblaster is powered

I had a discussion with ban at av sales plasmosis. this is very loosely( my memory will not let me write exactly) what he said.

take a look at the syncblaster cable, in my opinion it delivers just the same performance, as you only need one cable from your skybox, you don't need the js box, you can save youself some money and get rid of your scart terminal board on fleabay if you don't need it.

i said, cheers, i'll trust your expertise mate!!

so I am, and i'm sure everything is gonna be great!!

i'm sure that the js offers more connection properties, but i don't need them, which is why i've gone the way i have.

    hope this helps you out.

I asked Liam about this as I knew he had compared both...he says that in his opinion:

"the quality difference between JS and Keene is down to the processing and cable used. Both routes have the various advantages of a decent RGB signal so both are going to come off sharp and solid. The JS adds better colour definition and less noise through using a better chipset to carry-out the sync-splicing. The further advantage comes from being able to use high quality cable to and from the converter. We're not talking leaps and bounds but the JS is better, and with it passing totally unadulterated picture information it will immediately look quite bright compared to the Keene"

It doesn't offer more connections just a better PQ. Having said that I have used the sync blaster and it is good....but I have now ordered js rgb>vga as it was bugging me that I knew I could get even better pq than i had.

    Thanks everyone.

The syncblaster is powered via the scart and correct me if I am wrong but the js tech needs a power cable?
Would everyone agree that to connect sky the syncblaster will still give a better PQ than the panny scart board?

the sync blaster needs to be mains powered too..it says it doesn't need power for most applications...not sure what other applications it has but it gave no picture at all on pw7 without using the mains adapter.

Im going to Demo one of these Screens tomorrow just to make sure its everything i want.

I already get a very good picture from my Sony Screen but want a bigger TV and the PW7 looks like the one to have.

Anyone using the media box at home??

well i can now say that I have tried connecting sky+ to my PW7 via: 1) DMR E55, 2)Sync Blaster; and 3) JS RGB to VGA converter. Options 1 and 2 give good enough results but Option 3 is best by a long chalk, pq is visibly improved, whites are whiter, contrast is more defined and colours are more natural.
    Well done Dr John!
