How would you do it ???

Hi,

I wonder could anyone help?
I have a new TV coming this week (PDP-508XD) and I could do with some advice on how to connect it all up for the best.

Things to Remember:
1) My TV will not Output Digital audio when the Input is from HDMI.
2) To get the best Audio out my Amp from PS3 I want to HDMI to amp.
3) Amp only has 2 HDMI in and 1 out
4) Amp only has 2 Optical in
5) Not sure if Humax foxsat can do SD over component same time as HD over HDMI (i read the manual but didn't say).
I think the Scart O/P may stay at 576I no matter what you choose with the V-button!

I have attached two Pics, one with how I think it should be wired and a blank one for you to draw on.

i would put the hdmi from the ps3 and the dvd straight through your amp carrying sound and vision, then the hdmi from the freeview to your tv with an optical going to the amp, then the sound form your tv back to your amp..

From another angle I would NEVER put any video (HDMI) through a AV amp unless I was to gain something.
That something could be.
It's the only way to get DolbyHD.
I have run out of HDMI inputs on TV.
AV amp up-scales better.
WHY!
To watch ANYTHING the AV amp has to be switched on and that is not always suitable for everyone, i.e. I need to keep things very quiet as everyone else is in bed.

My DVD-PVR has built in freeview so their is only one HDMI Output for that box. It also upscales SD but if the freeview in the TV does it better I will probably watch built-in Tv freeview mostly (with RCA audio out) and just use the PVR for watching recorded freeview.

That is why I chose just to put the PS3 through it.
PS3 Outputs LinerPCM Multichannel only through HDMI.

Saying that, I coulden't tell any difference from Bitstream over Optical

Hi Mr.Glass.
If you can make use of HD audio from the PS3 then do it HDMI out from the player to the amp and then out via HDMI to your display.

the amp is not set to scale the HDMI source just pass it through so video is not processed.
