hi all.

i have a Rotel RSP 1066 feeding into Rotel 985 MK11 i want a 6 or 7.1 setup i would like to get a Rotel 991 for stereo but cant find one!..

My question is,

i want to buy 2nd hand for value. if so should i get a Rotel Amp.
if not should the amp i get replace my front 3 . if i get a 2 channel stereo will a 200wpc (rotel) sound different to my 110wpc center.

i think that makes sense.

well rotel to rotel they would sound similar, perhaps the bigger one would have the benefit of additional control. What are your speakers?

i had the 985 mk1 and the 891 i think it was called 2 channel sterio poweramp 130 watts , found using 985 vs 891 the 891 was better with vocals 2 channel sterio , using 3802 as pre/processer.

you should be able to get one 2nd hand approx £150 or less just put wanted add in the for sale area a few were sold bought on the forum about 5 months back

Hi Buns

oh with those dyns you would in no way be silly looking for amps beyond the rotel!

Thats my point, should i be looking at better amplification but would that affect the centre channel???

well what is your use, cinema or stereo, and which most? How about selling your current rotel and looking to get a 2nd hand parasound 2205? It will be significantly better than the rotel and is a real bargain these days

Hi Buns,

My listening is 60 film 40 music.

how much do the parasound amps go for i have heard good reviews of them but have never seen one. on in E yorks anyway.

i have just posted a new thread, there is a guy selling 2x RB981 's so i was thinking of buying both. 1 for each speaker not bridged though. but i'm not sure at current going rate for them.

Any advice would be much apprecieted

john i tried rotel powers, i also tried a linn lk85 ,the linn was more refined than the rotels and the sound was (better quality) in av and sterio.

price wise though the rotels were £150-£300 the linn i had on loan and was new and would have cost £550.

not heard a parasound like buns has suggested but can see the point of a good quality power amp .

i have no idea what a parasound costs second hand though.

the bigger 2205 parasound i recall would be at the £1000 to £1200 mark..... do a search in the classifieds, there have been a few in there. It would be enormously superior to the mentioned rotels
