How to View wmv Files?

    Hi there,
    My Friend in Canada sometimes sends me funny video files in Mpeg which I can see on my PC and sometimes wmv files which I can't open it says something like unable to open wrong format, can anybody tell how to view these files thanks.

    WMVs should view absolutely fine in Windows Media Player.

    Hi when I click on the WMV clip, the windows media player opens then it says unable to open due to the format.

    Sounds like you need a specific CODEC that isn't installed in your OS to be able to play the wmv file.

    Try a google search for K-Lite CODEC pack.

    If you don't want to be fiddling with installing video CODECS then try a piece of software called vlc.

    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

    That usually plays anything.
