I've started renting DVDs fairly regularly now, and the intros they make you watch are getting annoying - they all make me watch a copyright warning and some now even play ads before the film and don't let me skip past them  Anyone know a way to avoid watching this advertising (apart from just going to make a cup of tea...)

    Cheers,

    Jon

It's generally not possible to skip them, these are called 'PUO's, Prohibited User Operations, which are scripted to disable many buttons on the remote and AFAIK very, very few players override them.

    Using an HTPC it's easy.

Thanks for the reply. That's a pain - seems kind of harsh to pay to rent a DVD and then be forced to watch a load of ads before you can watch the film. Unfortunately, a HTPC definitely isn't in the budget :(
