    Hello,

I've bought a soundbar for my LG 43LF5400 but it does not work: when I connect the soundbar to the TV (either though RCA or AUX) the TV sounds still goes through the TV speaker, it does not go through the soundbar.

The soundbar works when connected to my smartphone or another TV.

The TV manual says to set the output in the SETTINGS -> AUDIO -> Sound Out settings menu

but I can't find it in my TV sound settings:

Am I missing something, what should I do?

    Thanks :)

It would help us to help you if you gave the brand and model number of the soundbar you're trying to use.
This is so we can see the type of connections and inputs it has.
Your LG TV doesn't have RCA phono audio out connections so if you've plugged in an RCA Phono cable to any RCA Phono sockets on your TV that's why you’re not getting any sound...those are inputs not outputs.
If your Soundbar has an HDMI ARC connection use that and turn on “Simplink” on your TV's settings...refer to your TV's user manual.
If the soundbar doesn't have HDMI ARC but has optical in use that with an optical cable from the TV's optical out socket.
If your Soundbar doesn't have optical in use the TV's headphone out to the Phono/AUX Input on the soundbar. Use a 3.5mm stereo minijack to RCA Phono cable.
Go into the TV's audio settings and set it to Headphone out.

The sound bar brand is Meidong and the model is KY 2022. It has the following inputs:

Does your TV have any other side-mounted in/out ports or connection panels.
To use the soundbar you need to have an optical out or headphone socket on your TV.
If there are none you'll be unable to use the soundbar.

    Thanks JayCee for your answers.

The TV has no other side-mounted in/out ports or connection panels :(

In that case the only way to use the soundbar is...
    A. If you have an aerial connected to the TV and use it's internal tuner the scart socket can often output sound from the tuner so try a scart to 3 RCA Phono cable into the the AUX input.
    B. If you use an external PVR (Terrestrial or Freesat) with the TV connect the PVR's audio out directly to the soundbar.
Your particular model of LG is sadly at the budget end of the market.
