which socket out from the pc are you connecting the sub to?

there should be a separate 'line out' and 'sub' or something similar...

are you coming from the motherboard onboard sound or a dedicated soundcard? what is the name of the socket you are attaching to on the pc?

the green socket is for 'audio out' or 'line out' - you need to remove your sub from this socket and attach the speakers to this.

you should have a separate socket for your subwoofer. if you don't you will need a new motherboard or buy an dedicated sound card...

edit: make sure you are looking at the back of your pc, and not using the connectors on the front panel!

Don't you need an amplifier?

I googled the sub - it's one of those all in one things, where the amp is in the sub and it powers all speakers.

Vankaizen - try connecting to the other PC outputs as Monkey suggested. If that doesn't work test the speakers with an ipod or something. The speakers may have a fault.

By the look of it, if it doesn't work simply by plugging a stereo jack to phono into it, then something is faulty. This is a fairly simple piece of kit, no different really from many 2.1 PC speakers. Try headphones into the PC to check the sound output there, and plug the speakers into something else.

thanks..i just figured out that my mobos soundcard has 6 channel features although it only have 3x 3.5mm jack socket..the manual says pink=mic/center/sub, blue=line in/rear surround speakers out, green=front speaker/headphoones.i just need to by another amp to power my 2 satellite speakers

Plug it into the green socket, and and make sure the audio setting's on your PC is set to 2 speakers. If it doesn't work then there's still a problem somewhere.

The satellite speakers should not need a separate amp, because there is an amp for them in the subwoofer.

ok this is my subwoofers manual..i only have he subwoofer alone the other 5 spekaers in this manual is not with me anymore..the 2 satelllites speaker that i have now came from a different sound system and this units are 3 way speakers sattelite.

in this manual youll notice in the speaker level configuration that there is a connection coming from a diffrent receiver/amplifier connected to my subwoofer.

in this manual im following the speaker level configuration where my desktop as receiver and the subwoofer as the amplifier for itself and the two satellites speaker..but the problem is there is no sound coming from the satellite speaker..i believe its because there should be a connection from my desktop to subwoofers input left and rightaside from the input of the subs itself which is not indicated on the configuration.but where i will get that from my dektop?

Hmm, maybe this system doesn't do what we think it does. If it has speaker line level inputs, maybe they're just passed straight through to the outputs rather than being connected to the amp (or rather the amp is purely for the subwoofer). It does look like the phonos are just for the subwoofer. To be honest it may not be worth the effort as you'll need an amp to get it all working.

Looking at the wiring diagrams in that manual (which aren't exactly clear) it seems to suggest that if you're running the sub via the phonos then the speakers need to be plugged into the amp/receiver.

Short story, you're going to need an amp, or what would be far simpler, just ditch that lot and get a decent set of 2.1 PC speakers.

As already said, this is a system designed to improve the sound from a budget home entertainment system. It improves the sound by replacing the existing passive satelite speakers with "better" ones and by adding a separate powered sub-woofer.

The "receiver" front speaker outputs are connected via the box which extracts the bass signal and feeds it to the sub-woofer. The box does not amplify the satellite sounds. For that you need a stand-alone 4.1/5.1 amplifier or receiver.

I think you might be right, so yeah it's probably not worth messing around with them.

You can get these for £31 (same price in PCWorld if you want them fast):

Logitech Z323 Speaker System: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Cheaper brands are available for around £20, but I've had a few sets of Logitech speakers and I've always been impressed by their performance.
