I have an old panasonic tx w32r4dp. The sky engineer managed to set it up to always start on av1(sky Box) but somehow it has now gone back to VCR! Suggestions please?

A couple of things to check...
Make sure "Scart control" is set to "on" within the Sky box picture menu and that the scart lead is in the socket marked "Tv scart" rather than the "Vcr scart" one on the Sky box. With the Sky box in standby...switch the Tv on then press the Sky button on the Sky remote, the Tv will then auto-switch to the Sky box.

With modern Panasonic LCD and PlasmaTVs there is a setting called "Power on Preferences" where you can select Tv or AV but I don't think, going from memory, their Crt models have this.

Also switch off the power saving on sky box.

The tv needs to detect a power pin on in a fully pinned scart to auto switch
