How to make it look like we're new customers to Sky

Our sky account is still under a parent's name even though they don't live with us any more, we just pay the dd and never bothered to change it over. We've been slack with renewing and upgrading so could undoubtedly get a better deal. Does anyone know if we tell Sky they've moved out and we want to 'take over' the account we'd be eligible for a 'new customer' deal or would it be wiser to cancel everything first then call up as if we've just moved in? My partner has a different surname so if necessary could call under a different name.

You are asking how to commit fraud. No one should assist you with this.

No he's not. Technically they are new customers looking to start a new account and close the parents account. How on earth is that fraud? If anything you could argue that having an account in the parents name is fraud and they are looking to put things right.

If I were you I'd cancel and start from scratch. Many years ago I had an extension built and wanted to move the dish, reroute the cables and wanted a newer box and it goes without saying they wanted to charge an awful lot. I had to move out for a few months as the whole house was being replastered so I left sky. Rejoined as a new customer (account was originally in my mums name), got a new dish/box and cable rerouted for nothing, not to mention a nice price drop too!

Don't talk rubbish. No it's not. It's marketing. Most firms employ the technique, so you just have to be a bit smart and play them at their own game, but fraud it ain't.
