How to get the Xbox One to turn on/off TV & change volume?

Hi,
Hope someone can help me here as this issue is driving me nuts!! I initially managed to get my Xbox One X to automatically switch on/off the tv (Sony KD43XF8096BU) once i shut down the Xbox or fired it up. However I then had to change the HDMI cables (changed to longer cables) and since then I'm unable to get the Xbox to switch on/off the TV - even going back to the original HDMI cable setup hasn't fixed this. Whilst swapping out the cables I switched everything off at the mains. I have spent hours and hours trying to get this working, but simply can't. These are my settings, any idea what I'm doing wrong? Also how on earth are you supposed to change the TV volume through the Xbox as there aren't any volume up/down buttons on the xbox controller or on the Talon remote?
Cheers

I think the control of the AV equipment is all done via IR (I don't think the Xbox One X supports CEC or any technology like that). Has the Xbox been moved to somewhere blocking the TV? If so maybe getting an IR cable might help?

I just checked my setup and I have a generic IR emitter I bought from a 3rd party seller on Amazon to get a better signal to control my Freesat box.

I change the volume using the Kinect or the Xbox One app.

I checked my Talon Remote for the volume button and I can change the volume of my AV Receiver via the + and - button on the bottom left of the remote (above the number pad). If that is not working for you maybe the TV code you are using needs to change to another code.

Thanks mate, wasn't aware that the control of TV would be by IR - i thought it would be through wires. Anyway this is my current setup, the Xbox is behind the sound bar so that probably explains why the TV can't be controlled. I did initially have the sound bar directly in front of the TV but then this stops the TV remote working properly from certain angles as the IR sensor on the TV is partially blocked. I think I'll stick with my current setup and stop being so lazy. Thanks again! :)

Nice setup. You might be able to use a small IR emitter and run that from the back of the Xbox One to in front of the TV.
