The disc has to have a DTS soundtrack. Is this what you are missing - a DTS disc?

    Quite.

Stick in a disc with a DTS soundtrack option, select "DTS" in the disc's menu (It's usually in the "languages", or "setup" options, all DVD's will default otherwise to DD), you'll normally have to select "yes to DTS" again as the menu encoders think that we'll select DTS when we don't have a decoder for some weird reason, and it should then be automatic.
