    Hi,
I am trying to re-edit a movie to make a new version of the same movie. What format should the file be in to be able to edit it in Adobe Premiere? Currently, I have a video that plays in Real Player.

    Many thanks!

You dont say what the current file format is. Any can play in real player

However what ever it is would depend on which version. prior to 6.5 and below would only really be happy with DV AVIs

It may be that there is a background conversion to AVI be many of the software which allow multiple file format input.

While this will allow editing, it is unlikely that the finished edit would not have lost PQ

Compressed File formats like real were not really designed to be edited, they are more of output for streaming
