I'm thinking of ditching my old Yam 3090 for a new Pioneer 2011.

Problem - the 2011 doesn't have RF in for Laserdisc sound. Is there a little demodulator box available for this or should I ditch the idea of either LD's or the 2011???

    Thanks for any help,

    Pottsy

    Hi

Yes, you need a demodulator. They get sold on here from time to time. I think the last one (a Kenwood one) went for £45.

Another alternative (if you have the space) keep your old Yamaha amp, use the pre-outs from the Yamaha into the multi-channel input of the 2011.

The 2011 will then decode everything except for the Laserdisc ... which will be decoded by the Yamaha.

Thank you both! I think the more elegant solution will be a demodulator - I'll keep an eye out for one....

Yes ... the modulator will be definately more elegant ...

Not sure if this is any use to you ... http://www.soundlabsgroup.com.au/bde/bde_rf_demodulator.htm ... but it's an RF Demodulator board which can be fitted internally to a LaserDisc player or could be mounted in an external box.

Been wondering about getting one myself ... but it's not exactly cheap.
