How to connect laptop to my dolby 5.1 digital receiver

    Can you help me out here.

    How do I connect my laptop to my dolby digital 5.1 receiver cheaply.

    Assuming it hasn't a SPDIF output (few if any laptops do), you'll need a USB/SPDIF adapter.

    Someone mentioned one recently but you'll have to search I'm afraid :( .

    I have an edirol USB UA10 (I think) SPDIF that I used for my laptop. I don't use it anymore, so its available if you're interested.

    It basically hooks in via USB to the laptop and it has a digita (optical and coaxial) input and output that you then hook up to your amp. I used it with TheaterTek and WinDVD and it worked a treat.

    I've since built my own HCPC, so I have no need for it anymore.
