I'm thinking of buying a Freeview box for my TV. I currently have a VCR connected to the TV and a DVD player connected through the VCR. The connectors are all SCART. I also have the Audio output from the DVD player (phono) going into my hi-fi amp.

I've attached a simple connection diagram.

Can someone please advise where the Freeview (2 SCART) would connect in?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I'm assuming here that your TV only has one SCART socket ?

If this is the case, then the only option without buying additional kit is for the Freeview to go inbetween the VCR and DVD - essentially still maintaining the chain of the SCART.

This would also allow you to record from the Freeview without any problems (DVD recording ok on non macrovision protected tapes only which is the same as now I presume...)

If you have more than one SCART socket in your TV - then connect the DVD player to one directly as a preference and chain the rest.

Whoops - sorry - forget to add that you'll need to chain the aerial (RF) input too - freeview box FIRST and then VCR. You should get the lead in the Freeview box....

Thanks Teeerex. It's about what I thought, but just needed to be sure.
