Greetings all! I'm a new member just joined today and here looking for help on my newly acquired Sonamp 1230. I picked it up yesterday at an Estate Sale w/o knowing or ever hearing who Sonance is. I justed knew it was heavy and it was priced to go home with me :). Anyway, here I am trying to figure out how the heck do you use this thing? I just want to do a simple stereo connection, two speakers and maybe connect a tuner and CD player. Do I need a preamp or something to control the volume levels? Help! I saw the online instructions on how to connect the 1230 but damm you need a masters to understand it! Hope someone can help! Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum.

You have indeed bought a power amp, one that is used for the distribution of audio around a house. A pre-amp will be needed to which your tuner and CD player would need to be connected. It's not the most powerful of amps and depending on your listening room careful matching of speakers may be required.

It is also considered to be an entry level amp in this category and again your speaker choice it may not give a satisfactory performance.

You can download a users' manual here;
