how to connect a md recorder

    hi i,am adding a md recorder to my system.i have connected the line in/out to the amp (yam dsp-ax640se), is it necessary to run a opt/cox link to the cd player?

    If you want to record from a CD to MD then by connecting an optical or coax lead between the 2 will give a digital copy that should result in very little loss of quality.
    Otherwise the connections you have made are good enough for listening to a MD recording and even an analogue recording from CD to MD should be fairly good quality.

    So basically you don't need to use an optical or coax lead between the MD & CD, but it will give slightly better quality recordings if you do.

    Plus if you use Digital link you will not need to bother about recording levels as it is a digital stream. Plus it gives you track divides without having to set the 'add track break after certain pause in music' option which sometimes gives curious results.
