I just bought a Toshiba SD220E and asked the dealer to make it 'Multi-region'. Is there any way I can tell if the player is actually multi-region enabled (ie through on screen menu etc) other than putting in a region 1 disk and trying it.

    Thanks

Not that I know of, unless it changes something within the menus, but I doubt it.

My current player (Pioneer 515) is auto switching, you just put the R1 disc in the machine and it plays.

I bought a 220E Multiregion from BE Direct yesterday (£129.99) should receive it on Tuesday.

The only way to be sure is to try it. When you do, I recommend you obtain an R1 RCE disk (such as Spiderman, Charlie's Angels, Hollow Man and others).
