Do they suffer from any pic/sound drop outs, or any non playable discs?
If you make sure your running the latest firmware its pretty good imo
I have a 470 which is basically the same machine. The layer change is very fast. It has never rejected any disk that wasn't faulty.
It is certainly the best player I have owned.
I have the 575. The layer change is so quick its usually not noticable - unlike my old Tosh Sd100e.
Best machine i have owned so far - and sold at silly money too.
MY 575 would not play a blank disc!
I've never seen a layer change on the 575...PJ
Try recording something onto it first !!
Thats about THE only disc it won't play. LOL
How do I know I have the latest firmware ? And if not where do I get it ?
I have'nt had any probs with layer change or anything else for that matter, but they do say prevention is better than cure.
Ah hold on is it this.... http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products.jsp?category=divx_firmware&category_id=222&taxonomy_id=42-84
If so has any one tried it? and does it do anything to the region coding as mine is set to region free, and I dont want it to be re-set back to R2 only.
Ta very much,
It won't play the video section of a 5 inch CDV disc.
I still keep my CLD1750 mainly for that reason.
To get the firmware version of your player you need to highlight the word 'Options' in the set-up menu, then press display on your remote control"
2.09 is the latest update from Pioneer on CD or you can download it from :
Though you can get 3rd party firmware, available here: http://mtz.softpedia.com/index.php
No they do not modify your region settings. Yes many of us have updated and no problems at all
Just bought one from Richer Sounds.
I'm impressed so far.
Well made, good sound and picture and very very quick layer change. This might be to do with the speed of the way it advances chapters so quick as well.
Purchased a few weeks ago from RS : v2.09 firmware pre-installed.
I bought one today, and I agree it's well made, easy to use and slim too.
But I don't think the PQ matches up to the S97. It seems to have more jaggies, no matter how I tweak it. (the Store Assistant said the 575 would toast the S97, even without the HDMI. I disagree.)
After playing around with the 575 for a while, I think I need to amend this post. The picture is sharper than the S97, but therefore seems to highlight grain etc more. The Panny seems to smooth things out more.
I think I can put up with the jaggies on the 575! It grows on you!
DITTO for me too.... ....
Just burnt some DivX clips from their site on a CD and they played back perfect on my 575.
There's not many clips on there though. Is there some where else I can download clips, with more of a choice?
