All the discs say 4.7GB on them but when dubbing in a Panasonic E85 4100MB comes up as destination space available. Is this normal on all discs or am I using inferior discs.

Although all DVDRs are described as 4.7GB this is, in fact, the capacity without a format type. The actual capacity of the disk, depending upon the Format Type used, is normally around 4.2GB. Inaccuracies in measuring the spare capacity account for any further apparent discrepancies between available capacity and actual disk space.
