Seems that I've been spending anywhere between £300-£500 per month on DVDs. My excuse is that I've only owned a DVD player for a few months and therefore have had a lot of catching up to do :D

I still have a few more VHS tapes to replace, but other than that I'm generally starting to calm down a little now and hope to get my bill down to about £200 per month very soon

So I don't feel like the only DVD freak [IMG], I'm interested to know what everyone else spends per month...

    Squirrel

I have recently cut down to about 2oo a month, having had a few 500 months recently.

I realised I was buying a lot just for the sake of it, plus I have just bought a projector.

I have been collecting for over 5 years so I have most of the back catalogue films I want, so its only current stuff I am buying

You've only been a member of this forum for a few months and I see you are applying the same principle. :)

    HI,

The only reason I spend less than £50 a month on DVD's at the moment, is simply because I'm only working at weekends, and am still looking for decent full-time work.

Once I'm working, I'll probably buy at least one DVD a week, either imported or from local HMV.

HMV is expensive man! Check out www.play.com or www.cd-wow.com ;)

My spending habit varies. I spend a lot on Nike clothes and gear, but I still seem to have plenty left for DVD spending - I guess I must earn a lot of cash! :D ;)

Last month I bought all four Buffy box sets, plus the two Angel ones - £360 on six DVDS  I am gonna spend more this month as there are plenty of good releases ;)

It depends not on how much you spend, but on how much you have left in cash. ;)

And yet you still didn't vote for the "About £300-£500 per month" option

Maybe you just think you have a lot of cash because you don't know how to count it :D

If you bought decent clothes you would have less to spend on DVds. I must try moving downmarket on clothes as well to free up more cash for other things. Thanks for the idea.

PS if you spent £360 on Buffy and Angel last month it would seem that you clearly have more cash than taste.

Sorry about that but this is the fellow who yesterday claimed to be a "New Man" with sensitivity and feelings who respected women and followed that up by saying that he had probably had more women than the the rest of us.

In another post yesterday he said that O Brother Where Art Thou was one of the worst films made by the Wachowski Brothers and that they should stick to action films.

I then came across this ludicrous post and I'm sorry but newbies that type before engaging brain are anathma to me.

this post is making me think of posting a "How much do you earn?" poll. Cos to spend £500 a month on DVDs you either earn a ton of wonga or still live at home.

    I'm a £50-100 a month man myself

Yep I don't do too bad but about 3 discs a month is my max usually (and I don't feel restricted just nothing else I want).

Spend more on booze than dvds to be honest.

You probably don't have your bicyle serviced at the recommended intervals. :)

I rarely spend more than £100 per month as I can never find enough films worth buying. I will probably be pilloried for saying this, but I believe in life outside watching films anyway.

Don't be cheeky :) I never claim to have greater knowledge of anything but I do try to think before committing myself to print.

Having earned an unjustified reputation for demeaning newbies I have to be extra careful what I write otherwise you lot would be down on me like a ton of bricks. :D

I have my bicycle serviced every decade, whether it needs it or not:p

I would agree with Ian that there are probably not enough decent new releases to spend 100 a month on. There are still a number of back catalogue titles coming out that push my spending up.

The next six weeks sees the release of Dont Look Now, The Entity, Ed Wood, Italian Job, Once Upon a Time in America, Back to the Future trilogy, Needful Things, The Tenant and Texasville.

I also agree it is essential to have a life outside of films and DVDs, that is what this forum is for isnt it:confused: ;)

Squirrel God isn't around at the moment to agree with you as I popped round to his place this morning and cut his telephone wires to give us all a rest.

You missed out the Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown SEs, which I'm very much looking forward too (as well as BTTF trilogy of course). :)

I was only listing films that were having their first DVD release ever (with the exception of Needful Things which has never had a widescreen release)

I could also have mentioned Unforgiven 10th anniversary two disc special edition, Amadeus directors cut two disc special edition and One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest two disc special edition;)

I was in the room next to him with his girl friend last week. I gave my password to someone else who kept posting rubbish in my style and Squirrel kept answering as he always does and we managed to keep him occupied for a couple of hours at least.

    Anywhere between £100 and £200 a month.
Every month I say I'm gonna cut back on the DVDs but until now I never have...
