I am trying to decide between the Samsung HW-K430 and HW-M450. Between these two units, there is a difference of 100W, since the K430 has 220W and the other one has 320W.

My question is the following - there is a price difference of around 60 euro between the two units. Is that extra 100W worth it? Please consider that I would never really be raising the volume too high due to neighbours. Are there other differences which are worth the extra cash?

'Watts Per Channel' - the gift which keeps on giving to the Marketing department!

Connectivity (or lack of) is usually the most important 'Spec' on a budget Soundbar.

Hi Joe - that's what I thought. Given the specs of the two sound bars, which would you say is the better choice? The M450 is 60 euro more expensive than the K430.

Both have limited Connectivity - I would be looking at which Sources I am going to be using and where am I going to be connecting them.

The soundbar would be connected directly to the TV, which I will be controlling from my PC. So my PC is hooked up to the tv via HDMI, and I will watch series and movies on the TV, connected to the soundbar. I will also occasionally stream songs from my phone via bluetooth directly to the soundbar.

    Connectivity : Source > TV > Soundbar.

Not much to choose between Optical and HDMI ARC to connect the TV and the Soundbar.

HDMI ARC has the potential 'advantage' of CEC control but that can be a control nightmare so may force you to revert to Optical anyway (if CEC is a pain you have to disable it which in turn disables ARC).

If it helps, both the TV and soundbar will be Samsung - so they should work together quite well.

'so they should work together quite well' - for ARC/CEC that may be true up until you connect a non-Samsung device to them and enable CEC (Anynet) :)

So the bottom line is the following - if you had to choose between those two soundbars, which would you go for?

I would likely go with the HW-M450 as the Front ported Sub is potentially less hassle to position close to a rear wall.

PS Personally I'd tend to stick with a budget Stereo Amp plus a pair of speakers.

Thanks Joe - much appreciated as this is my first soundbar purchase so I am quite lost.
