I know it depends on the film and how much you like or dislike it, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Here's what made me wonder.... My mate and me both got Training Day and both really liked it. Within about a week and half/2 weeks, he'd watched it THREE times and I only the once..... I don't know about you, but it always takes me a while to re-visit a film even if I REALLY liked it.....

Here's my top 5 most watched DVDs:

    Jaws DTS
    A Bug's Life C/E
    Toy Story/Toy Story 2
    Mystery Men
    Almost Famous (DTS version)

Like you, it depends on the the film itself rather than any set criteria. Sometimes a few films surprise me and I watch them more that I anticipated. One such example is the Polanski's Ninth Gate.

    My current top five are:

    Phantom Menace
    Saving Private Ryan
The Mystery Men ("Blue Raja at your service"):D
Close encounters of the third kind
    Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Like everyone else, it varies on the film. I have a number that I have only watched once but will probably drag out at some point in the future or if one of my friends wants to see it. Most watched DVD's at the moment are:

    Swordfish
    The Matrix
10 Things I Hate About You
    High Fidelity
    American Pie 2

    Depends on my mood...
I've got DVDs that have been on my shelf for months that I haven't watched yet (but I've already seen the movie elsewhere).
Mostly I play them once, sometimes twice in the first few weeks and then they're filed.
It then usually takes me a couple of months before I watch it again...

Most watched has to be Men in Black. Seems like it's never off :)
    After that it's Jaws / The Matrix / Se7en / Aliens & LA Confidential.

As for how soon I go back to a good film - Well, The Matrix was on four nights in a row in my house. It was an awesome experience. Usually it takes me a good month or so to revisit a DVD.

Alanrob, what's your favorite scene from MIB?
Mine's during the interview scene where they have to fill out the forms in the egg-shaped seats and Will Smith drags the table across the room...
I aggree, seems like MIB is never off.

Fav scene is the tunnel scene with the Elvis tune :D

It's a very easy to watch movie and it's under 1hr30mins long, so it doesn't take long to watch. Also, it's a great laugh :)

I usually watch new titles about twice in the space of a few days. Then once more to run through the commentary when I have nothing to do. Then on occasion I pull out different titles as I feel like.

That is, unless it's 'The Matrix', 'LA Confidential', 'Memento', 'Pitch Black', 'The Die Hard Trilogy' and, of course, 'The Crow' and 'The Crow: Salvation', which are all played very regularly. And 'The Usual Suspects' when I get it.

    Wow!
I watch films about once every 2 years on average!

The most watched films of mine have probably only been watched 3-4 times and they are

Grosse Point Blank (I usually force people to watch this one)
    LA Confidential (just fantastic)
    Clerks
The Negotiator (people keep realising they've never seen it and request it)
The Big Labowski (funnier every time)
Toy story 1&2 + A Bug's Life (Friends with families are usually safe with these)

I guess this is why these days I mostly rent!
I don't like spoiling films for myself

I watch them once and then file them away.
After all, I don't want to wear the disc out.;)

To be honest, I wish I had more time to get on top of the backlog that seems to keep on building up. It used to be that I'd watch films fairly regularly, at least twice in the first month and then go through all the extras etc that are on the disc, but the more films you buy the harder it gets to find the time to re-watch them. I've got about 30 that I really want to watch again but there's around 20 new ones that haven't been near the player yet. And then there's the CDs....

Time is the most precious of commodities.

Just wondering if anybody watches whodunits time and time again when that main point is the suspense of who done it?, where as action films I would imagine are more repeatable.
The most watched films of mine are Jason and the Argonauts, Blade, and the later James Bond’s with Living Daylights the most watched.
I too have three or four DVD’s waiting to be watched.

    Garrett,

    it depends...
Once you've seen the ending of 'the game', you won't forget it anytime soon. But it's still a great movie so I have watched it several times (and will continue to do so).

I knew I had a problem when it got to the stage where I had to have a seperate Shelf for my DVDs still shrinkwrapped, waiting to be watched....

I now limit myself to purchasing just one DVD per week until i've cleared my backlog, although I find myself cheating....

Last weeks disk was the Jurassic Park Trilogy... the previous weeks disk was the Die Hard Trilogy....

    As for how oftern.

I probably fit with the majority here whereby I'll probably watch a movie a couple of times within about a month and then I'll normally leave it for about 6 months to before even considering watching it again.l

    Exceptions:

    Saving Private Ryan
    Matrix
    Starship Troopers

Mine has to be "Withnail & I".

Like a good wine (Withnail would approve!), improves with age.

I'll probably watch a film once but put certain sequences on over and over again the following months.

Gladiator, use to be on every day, so many fight scenes to choice from.

Phantom Menace, Pod race is a blast, never get bored with this.

Fast and the Furiouse, race sequences to amaze my brother/mates. Not girlfriend though, wouldnt even attempt to perswade her to watch this one.

Yeah certain scenes always get played by me...... I got my Denon 3802 a couple of days ago and the scenes I watched to test it were the pod race and the tank attack in Private Ryan DTS. I must have watched these clips about 20+ each :D

I also watch trailers over and over again - I love them! You cant beat a decent trailer in anamorphic w/s and 5.1 sound...... I can watch them ALL day.
