How many pallets can you fit in a 40ft container?

Inside dims of a 40' container = 1202 x 235 x 239 cms
If the pallets are 120 x 120 cms, you can't get them side by side.
So you're only going to get 10 pallets in.
If the pallets were 120 x 100 cms, you would get two rows of ten = 20.

I'll try to make sure they use the 120 X 100 cms in that case, I have to move 42 pallets from Brazil to new Jersey.

Apparently you can squeeze 21 of these into a container!

Looks like you can just about squeeze an illegal immigrant behind 20 and 21 too, that's handy :smashin:

I can imagine swapping "sides" to lift and drop could be a PITA to pack like DHL's layout!
Exactly.
Some pallets don't even allow you to access from two directions.
Some pallets we see will only allow forklift access along the length, not the width.
If you get my drift.

What am I missing when I make it 22?

Left-hand side: all landscape, like 1. 1204 / 100 = 12
Right-hand side: all portrait, like 2. 1204 / 120 = 10.

Total 22.
Loading them in landscape down one side and portrait down the other side can be a right pain.
We don't bother.

Good way of putting it though, I'm going to rob that off you!

epal-pallets.org say 22 too:

Edit: they do specify a four-way pallet.

Leaving just 4mm on a 40' container is a bit tight, not least of which some pallets will never get filled exactly to be within the footprint of the pallet itself. Rather plan for some contingency I think!

Good day!

Can any of you guys advice me if the following list with items would possibly fit in a standard 40Ft. container.

Shipment will contain:
- 125 dining chairs W/O arm rest
- 20 dining chairs W arm rest
- 25 wooden table tops (7cm thick) in 3 sizes:
1) 4 pcs. round 100 cm
2) 8 pcs. square 90cm X 90cm
3) 13 pcs. 90cm X 180cm
- 8 bar stools W/O arm rest
- 24 tables 60cm X 60cm
- 25 sets stainless steel table legs

Any advice is welcome... It's my first shipment so I am totally new to this and I have no idea if this amount of items would fit in a 40Ft. container.

Thank you!
Dominique
